Biodiversity and Nature the city

Euroflor Urban Meadows are not only aesthetic, they fulfil a wider role for environmental conservation !

Plant and animal biodiversity

In addition to plant diversity, the meadow mixtures provide food and shelter to a wide range of fauna (pollinating insects, small mammals, song birds and game).

Sustainability

Euroflor urban meadows already play an integral role in Sustainable landscape maintenance programmes in many towns and cities across Europe. They are the ideal complement to traditional floral displays being more natural, practical and economical, in particular by reducing parks maintenance.

Carbon footprint

Euroflor urban meadows contribute to reducing our carbon footprint:
• Sowing is manual, no fertiliser is necessary, less irrigation is required compared to traditional flower beds and no insecticides need to be used,
• An area of 100 m² can store the equivalent of 110 kg of CO2 greenhouse gases and release oxygen into the air.
• Seed production on the farms uses less chemicals than other agricultural crops

The "coolspot" effect

As with other types of vegetation, urban meadows lower the ground and air temperature around nearby buildings in our cities in summer thereby creating a more comfortable environment and reducing air conditioning requirements.
